This weekend our campaign team took to the road, bringing the message about the proposed Adlington New Town directly to neighbouring towns and villages.
With plans suggesting up to 14,000–20,000 homes could be built around Adlington, a development that could transform the area and surrounding countryside, our volunteers wanted to ensure nearby communities understand what is being proposed and how it could affect them.
The response from supporters was fantastic. We had a great turnout of volunteers who gave up their time to help spread awareness across the region.
At each stop on the roadshow, teams covered the area with placards and spoke with local residents about the campaign. Volunteers handed out leaflets, badges and car stickers, helping to start conversations and encourage people to learn more about the proposals and their potential impact.
We began the day with 3,000 leaflets, and by the end of the roadshow almost every single one had been distributed — a clear sign of the strong interest from local residents and the determination of our volunteers.
The roadshow was not just about distributing information. It was also about demonstrating the growing community effort behind the campaign and connecting with people who want to protect the countryside and character of the area.
Overall, the day was a huge success and shows just how much momentum the campaign is building. A huge thank you goes to all our volunteers who travelled between locations, and spent hours talking to residents and sharing information.
Together, we are making sure communities across the region know what is being proposed — and that their voices are heard.
