On Saturday 15th November, around 200 people came together around Adlington Hall to say No to Belport and No to Adlington New Town.

The first public consultation for the proposed new town was held inside the hall, whole outside, throughout the entire day, local residents gathered in a powerful and peaceful show of resistance. People of all ages lined the road, holding banners, sharing stories, and making it clear that this development is not wanted here.

The message was unmistakable: our green belt is not for sale. Residents expressed deep concern about the scale of the proposals and the irreversible damage the plans would cause to our countryside, wildlife, heritage landscape, and the character of our villages. Many who attended the consultation left feeling unheard, saying the event raised more questions than answers.

In contrast, outside the hall there was unity, determination, and community spirit. People stood together for hours in the cold to defend the place they love — a reminder that this campaign is not slowing down. If anything, it’s growing stronger.

This third protest reinforces what we made clear last week: we will not accept a new town imposed on our countryside. We will continue to speak up, show up, and stand firm until these plans are abandoned.

No to Adlington New Town. Protect our countryside. Protect our future.
