How do people from the area feel about Adlington New Town?
The proposed new town has left many in Adlington feeling excluded from decisions that will directly affect their lives.
Plans have been led by organisations and individuals who are not part of this community, while local knowledge and
concerns have been ignored or sidelined.
This page exists to give space to the voices of residents — through their own words, stories, and videos — so they are no longer overlooked.
We have no right destroying future generations ability to grow/rear food.

In addition to the loss of precious wildlife and Greenbelt, I feel these projects promise the world with regard to improving infrastructure but never produce the goods.
Our current infrastructure, roads, hospitals, doctors surgeries, schools etc are already extremely stretched and cannot absorb any more capacity.
I recently saw a couple of people had a 33hr and over 20hr wait at Macclesfield hospital A&E.
There was talk of Buxton Hospital closing and cases being referred to Macclesfield.
How are they supposed to cope with that in addition to residents from 20,000 more houses?
Beyond comprehension!!!

I disagree with the use of the word development which sounds like it's a positive thing,
it's nothing more than destruction of ancient fields, trees, and wildlife habitats to prioritise
the economy and profits.
It's extremely concerning and worrying that there will be nothing left of the countryside for future generations to enjoy.
No affordable housing.
What they are proposing is out for first time buyers.
The new town isn't for the local population.
Large detached properties will attract people from down south who wish to leave London.
Already happening in houses being built in Congleton.
With the proximity to the development at Woodford and Handforth Garden Village this proposal would infill any green space left and
the areas of Handforth, Wilmslow, Prestbury, Poynton, Bollington, Adlington, Macclesfield and beyond will become
one large urban sprawl, fundamentally changing the whole area into an extension of Greater Manchester suburbs.
This proposal would seem to be all about money with absolutely no concern about farmers, food production, wildlife or protected species.
No thought has been given to road, rail, doctors surgeries, hospitals or schools that this project would need.
Also the area is prone to flooding already.
Where would the water go if covered in concrete.
Just for profit, profit, profit and to hell with everything else.
Although we live in Adlington we have had no notice and neither were we invited for consultation.
Horrified at the scale of the proposal - no infrastructure to support the plans and it would be highly
unlikely that the government would invest millions in order to do so, and highly improbable that Belport
would build the necessary hospitals, schools, GP surgeries that would be needed.
The environment and permanent loss of beautiful quintessential English countryside is devastating.
Animals are already struggling and, as a resident for more than twenty years, I have already seen a
marked decrease in the birds and animals which I used to see on a regular basis.
This development will decimate the habitats and wildlife corridors that are barely hanging on as it is.
