Who are we?

A field of sheep grazing in Adlington's Greenbelt countryside

Updated: January 28, 2026

We are the Supporters of the Adlington Greenelt, a community-led group of residents dedicated to protecting Adlington’s countryside, preserving local heritage, and ensuring development decisions are made openly, responsibly, and democratically.

We are not affiliated with any political party or organisation. We are neighbours, families, farmers, walkers, environmentalists, and long-standing residents united by a shared belief: our Greenbelt must be protected for current and future generations.

Local councils — including Bollington Town Council, Poynton Town Council, and Pott Shrigley Parish Council — have issued a joint statement opposing the development 1. We work to amplify their voice and ensure our community’s concerns are impossible to ignore.

Our Code of Conduct sets out the standards we expect from everyone involved in or supporting this campaign. We are committed to acting respectfully, responsibly, and lawfully at all times, whether online, in public spaces, or when engaging with decision-makers and the wider community. This campaign is rooted in care for our area and its future, and we believe our actions and behaviour should always reflect that. By following this Code of Conduct , we aim to ensure a safe, inclusive, and constructive environment for all.

Our Mission

  • Protect Adlington’s Greenbelt from destructive development
  • Promote sustainable, responsible planning
  • Defend working farmland and UK food production
  • Safeguard wildlife, biodiversity, and ancient woodland
  • Ensure residents have a democratic voice in major decisions

Our Values

  • Community first
  • Evidence-based decision-making
  • Transparency and accountability
  • Respect for nature
  • Long-term, sustainable thinking
